As announced in October of 2020, D2iQ has ended support for DC/OS Enterprise. Below are some frequently asked questions about this topic:
Q: When did support for DC/OS end?
A: 31-October-2021.
Q: What will happen to the packages hosted in the DC/OS Universe/Catalog?
A: For those not familiar, the DC/OS Universe/Catalog registry is a hosted service that provided DC/OS packages such as databases, etc.
While no official end-date for the Universe/Catalog service has yet been decided, D2iQ will continue to host the Universe and all the packages it contains until at least 31-December-2021.
If you:
- Plan to continue using the DC/OS Open Source edition, or
- Have arranged extended licensing from D2iQ for DC/OS Enterprise Edition beyond that date,
AND you are using packages from the Universe/Catalog, we suggest you make your own copies of these packages, to ensure you continue to have access them going forwards.
To obtain a local copy of catalog services, you have several options. You can:
- Download the existing catalog bundle, or
- Create your own local universe with just the packages you use, or
- Download .dcos (package registry) files for any package you use, or
- Create package repository packages for the packages you use.
The documentation links provided above document how to obtain/create the necessary files and to configure a local universe or package registry to host them. Regardless of which of these options you choose, the process of downloading or creating a local universe or .dcos package copies all the artifacts locally so that there is no dependency on AWS or other locations.
Also of note: the DC/OS universe catalog package source files are open source; if you want to determine where a given component of a package is being copied from, you can look there.
